THE VICTIMS OF HURRICANE HELENE STILL NEED YOUR HELP

Try and imagine, your family has lived in a small town in North or South Carolina or Eastern Tennessee. A hurricane is forcasted for the Gulf Coast of Florida. You know that this might mean some rain up your way but you never in a million years expected what came next. The rains came. Boy did they come! You might have stood on your porch watching the river rise then went back inside to get ready for bed. Next thing you know you're woke by a roar like you've never heard before. The river had rose fast and beyond anything like ever before. You go to get your family and gather a few things to get out and go to higher ground and in just that short time the water had risen up to your porch, your car is inaccessable and the road is flooded. You look out your window to see your neighbors houses washed away and you can only watch helplessly as you see your neighbors along with their pets, livestock and all their belongings stuggling in the raging waters. You and your family al...

Just as I'm sure many are puzzled over what to believe and what not to believe. What I want to propose to you here is this- let's assume there is an element of truth from both parties regarding the other candidate's personality traits, both good and bad, and their character. It would appear that both parties are involved in some amount of corruption but is that really a surprise to any of us who follow politics? I think it's safe to say the answer to that is "no". Do you really believ...

LET'S PUT IT ANOTHER WAY...

It's pretty safe to assume that everyone is aware that we have a very important election coming up in November. What some don't understand is WHY this particular election is so very important. Isn't every presidential election important? Yes, so why is THIS one more important? In November 2024 you will be voting on a drastic change in our system and our way of life. I'm sure that most of us have noticed the drastic change in your way of life in the past 4 years. Some may jump to say that you've seen a fairly large increase in your paycheck. In 2014 the average American made $46,481 annually whereas today the average American makes $63,795, a difference of $17314. Sounds like a pretty significant increase true? It does to me, considering the increase alone is more than I used to make annually! The problem is that wages are not the only thing that has increased. For instance, in 2013 a pound of ground beef ran $3.50/lb and this past week we paid over $7 for ...

BUY AMERICAN?

There was a time when people could exclaim "Buy American!" and mean it.  They could back up WHY you should buy American with good reasons. The Big Three Automotive producers for example, back in the day buying American meant, you were buying safe quality vehicles.  Now?  Check the ratings for yourself.  You'll be lucky to find one vehicle produced by any of the big three on any list for safety, quality or value.  "Buy American!"  you'll secure American jobs!  Ummm...no.  In the past yes!  Shoot in the past a person could steal TWO complete transmissions and the union had your back.  Not only would they get your job back but they'd get you back pay as well.  Now try and explain that you were taking your wife who was having a heart attack to the emergency room and called as soon as you could, you'll get punished for calling in an hour to late!  Now some of you might be shocked that a person would get punished for takin...

THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD

Image
We have often heard the phrase "The weight of the world".  He looks so tired.  He's been carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. If only he knew.  If only he understood that someone had already carried that weight for him.  As Easter rapidly approaches most of us Christians are joyful.  Celebrating the gift Jesus gave us.  The gift of life, of salvation.  We know that he was born of a virgin from the line of David.  We know he was a great teacher and healer, that he shook up the idea of what God expected of us a bit, that he loved and was an example of how we are supposed to love.  We know that he was the son of God in the flesh feeling and facing all the joys, sorrows and temptations that we feel.  And we know that he was tortured and crucified.  That he died for our sins, he paid our penalty so that we could live.  We know that he was placed in the tomb and rose from the dead.   But how often do we take t...
